According to reports, the Happiest Place On Earth is leaving more than few mouseketeers a little less than pleased this morning. julie-taymor-cancels-interview

Riiiiiiight.

Due to the complications stemming from the troubled Broadway production of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, director Julie Taymor has canceled an upcoming speaking engagement at a New York Times event in which she was to be interviewed by staffer Patrick Healy!

According to a press representative:

"With the changes to the Spider-Man production schedule, Julie will be deep in rehearsals and will not be available to participate."

Somehow, we think there's a little more to it than that!

Britney Spears: Comic Book Hero

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has one, Betty White has one … even the entire cast of Glee has one — now Britney Spears has one, too! After making a bit of a splash back in 2002 in his feature film debut in 8 Mile (a film which won him an Academy Award for Best Song), Eminem is finally returning to the big screen. Deadline is reporting that Em has signed on to star in a boxing film being produced by Dreamworks. Eminem‘s new film is titled Southpaw:

reamWorks has made a preemptive acquisition of Southpaw, a pitch for a star vehicle for Eminem (Marshall Mathers) that will be written by Sons of Anarchy creator/exec producer Kurt Sutter. Like in Eminem’s 2002 screen starring debut 8 Mile, Southpaw will be fueled by the struggles that inform Eminem’s music and mirror his life. Eminem will play a fast-rising welterweight boxer who brawls his way to the title, only to see his world crash down around him due to tragedy. The movie is about his fight to reclaim past glory … The film will be produced by Eminem’s Shady Films’ managers and producing partners Paul Rosenberg and Stuart Parr, and Alan and Peter Riche of Riche Productions. The deal comes as Eminem’s comeback album, Recovery, just got 10 Grammy Awards nominations … Sutter will begin writing immediately, and he will complete a draft by February, before he and his Anarchy writers begin to plot the fourth season of the series. “There is a rich story her that references his own experience, and I was honored to be able to continue a relationship that began with 8 Mile,” Snider told me. She’ll steer the project with DreamWorks co-president Mark Sourian.

Well it’s about damn time! I totally understand why Em has not taken on any movie roles in the past 8 years considering all the hardships he’s been thru but it is really great news that he is ready to act again. I loved his performance in 8 Mile and I am really anxious to see if he’s got it inside him to bring the skills again. What do y’all think … are you excited to see Eminem on the big screen again?

Tony Romo & Candice Crawford Are Gettin’ Hitched!

Congratulations are in order for Dallas Cowboys quarterback (and famed ex-boyfriend of Jessica Simpson) Tony Romo and Candice Crawford because today we learn that the couple have gotten themselves engaged to be married! As you may recall, Tony and Candice (younger sister to Gossip Girl‘s Chace Crawford and 2008 Miss Missouri) started dating shortly after [...]

After spending about 16 hours unconscious yesterday, I am happy to report that I am feeling a smidge better today. I’m not sure what the heck is going on but this is the second time I’ve come down with a 24-hour bug that really knocked me on my bum. Yesterday was a pretty hellacious day and the only way to not suffer was to be asleep. The body aches stopped at around 8PM last night but I slept the rest of the night away in the hopes that I would wake up refreshed. I wouldn’t say I’m feeling refreshed exactly but I am feeling a million times better. I’m deffo on the upswing and that is the best news ever. If I continue to keep feeling better, David and I are still planning to make our way to the Orpheum Theater in downtown LA to see Peaches live in concert:

I’ve been a fan of Peaches for many years now so I’m excited to see her live on stage again. She is performing a show titled Peaches Christ Superstar that I’ve heard is pretty fantastic to see. I’ve deliberately stayed away from any show spoilers so I’m really looking forward to seeing what she’s got in store for us. To be honest, if it weren’t for tonight’s show, I’d deffo be staying my ass in bed … but it’s Peaches. I gotta see this show.

And so … another Friday is upon us again. This weekend is the last weekend before Xmas so … I hope all y’all make the most of it! Happy Friday, Happy Weekend!!

Legends Of The 1970s - Slade

The widely successful American folk-rock group Simon & Garfunkel was formed in 1957 by singer-songwriters Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. Although America's mainstream might say otherwise, folk-rock and "cult concerts," as they're sometimes referred to, have an enormous following, as evidenced by bands like Phish and the Grateful Dead. Simon & Garfunkel still won't be certified by many with the credit they're undoubtedly due, but the mainstream music scene has always been that way; and ever since the band's first attempt at music in the late 1950s, the duo has had to settle for sometimes being misrepresented and even...

I have safely and happily made my way back home from my frigid and snowy home state of Michigan to the warmer climes of California … and it feels good to be home. Even tho I had a lot of fun in Detroit, I really really REALLY hate the cold and the snow so … yeah, I was itching a bit to get back home. I did manage to bring a bit of my home with me to LA … my mom scrounged up my class rings, yearbooks and other school memorabilia so that I could bring them home with me:

I think I’m finally ready to ask David to go steady with me so … he’ll get to wear my high school class ring if he says yes. I know that many folks have asked for high school photos of me but I just can’t find the strength to embarrass myself like that just yet … maybe some day but, nope, not yet.

So yeah … I’m home again … and for a while ;) Tonight, David and I have tickets to see the Broadway musical Next to Normal which is in production here in LA for a few weeks:

We both saw it on Broadway in NYC last year but not together. He loved the show so much he wanted to see it again so … that’s what we’re doing! Happy Tuesday, y’all … it’s great to be home!!

Great Moments In Opera, "Siegfried Takes His Revenge Over Wotan" From Act 3 Of Wagner's "Siegfried"

The music business was slow to catch on to the importance of downloading. File sharing sites sprang up which grew very big very quickly. Eventually the business woke up to it and started aggressively pursuing both sites and individuals through the courts. After all it is theft of intellectual property. Particularly in the USA the music industry has been lobbying extensively in Washington, in tandem with high profile legal action.

How To End A Piece Convincingly

There is no questioning that David Bowie is one of the greatest musical personas not only of his time but of the century. He penetrated the music scene in 1969 when his song Space Odessy conquered the UK hitcharts. There was just something about that song that makes it linger through time. Despite the fact that it was brooding, it exuded much melody that was still upbeat.

Newishlyweds Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox spent their Black Friday yesterday enjoying a day of fun at the Magic Kingdom at Disney World in Orlando, FL … here is a supercute pic of the pair posing for a self-portrait in front of Cinderella‘s castle yesterday afternoon:

I’m a huge Disney fan so I get the appeal, I’m sure they had a much more fun day playing at the Magic Kingdom rather than fighting other shoppers at the malls around town.

Stop the presses, y’all. Actors Anne Hathaway and James Franco have just been signed to host the 83rd annual Academy Awards show on February 27, 2011. It was rumored that the pair were being courted for the gig and they must’ve both said yes as quickly as they could cuz now it’s official … Anne and James will be hosting the Oscars!

James Franco and Anne Hathaway have been tabbed to co-host the Feb. 27 Academy Awards. Both have films currently in release: Franco stars in “127 Hours” and Hathaway co-stars with Jake Gyllenhaal in “Love and Other Drugs.” Neither have hosted before, but Hathaway participated in a song-and-dance routine when Hugh Jackman hosted in 2009. Move comes a year after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences had Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin front the show. The Oscars will be telecast by ABC from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.

While this will not be the first time that actors have co-hosted the Oscars I believe this is the first time such young actors have been tapped for the job. I LOVED Anne‘s song-and-dance bit with host Hugh Jackman during the 2009 Oscars (so much so that I would LOVE to have Hugh Jackman host the Oscars every year) so I think she will make a great host. Paired with Franco, well, it’ll be very interesting to see how it all plays out. The Academy Awards play much better to the older Hollywood set so I’m curious to see if the young duo will cater to the older, traditional Oscar watcher or if they’ll youngen up the awards show. I would’ve never guessed that either of these two would ever get to host the Academy Awards … let’s just hope they don’t eff it all up.

So … what do y’all think?

How to Deal With Lead Singer Disease (LSD)

The Ukulele is often associated with Hawaii, although it actually comes from a guitar-like instruments of Portuguese origin and oddly enough means "jumping flea" in Hawaiian, maybe because your fingers resemble a flea jumping around on the fret board while you are playing. If you're looking for a well made great sounding instrument you can trust a Lanikai Ukulele which are actually made by the Hohner music company which make many high quality musical instrument. You'll find each ukulele's sound to be as soothing as a white sand beach as you strum to the tune of the ocean.

Why You Should Not Buy the "Premium Tickets"

Getting a bus pass is a great way to save money. Whether you are on a vacation in a new country or are a regular traveler in your home town a bus pass means paying a limited fare for any number of trips. Regular commuters benefit with this cost effective pass, but if you are travelling just for the day it will still save you a lot of money.
