Ha!!

Rick Santorum got a face full of glitter after his loss in the South Carolina primary over the weekend.

The Pennsylvania Senator was glitter bombed by a group of Occupy protestors who were angry over his anti-gay views.

A woman threw glitter in Santorum's face and yelled out, "Hate, gay rights!"

Then the protestors chanted:

"You’re a bigot. Rick Santorum is a bigot. You hate gays, You hate gays!"

We don't condone violence in any way, but this was hardly a violent move. Just something to get his attention and we love it!

PHOTO: Kasey Kahl Takes Prettiest Mug Shot After Arrest

Former Bachelorette and Bachelor Pad star Kasey Kahl might have been "shaken" and "confused" about his Sunday morning arrest, but that didn't stop him from flashing his pearly whites in what his rep is calling "the prettiest mug shot ever." (Yep, that's it above.)

Introducing The Yamaha DGX 640 Digital Piano

Just like a professional athlete, vocalists must perfect foundational techniques before more advanced singing structures can be attained. Some of these foundation techniques may include basic vocal warm-ups, stretching, or breathing technique. In fact, vocal breathing may be one of the most important techniques to learn early in your singing career as improper breathing can greatly impede progress made later on.

Judge Commends Lindsay Lohan For Doing Well With Her Community Service

We're gonna admit something: we're very surprised. So many years spent wasting her second chances, we didn't expect much from her this time around. We were pretty convinced she couldn't turn things around.
We're glad to be proven wrong.
This morning, Lindsay Lohan was in court to appear in front of her probation judge, Judge Stephanie Sautner, [...]

If you don't have a date for Valentine's Day and you plan on staying home and feeling sorry for yourself, you're in luck! You can spend the evening with Courteney Cox!

After many, many, MANY months of logisitcs, it turns out that Court and her Cougar Town crew are heading back to the alphabet network. Since Work It didn't exactly work out, the bosses at ABC have replaced it's spot with the popular sitcom, which will return Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 8:30 p.m.

Oh! So that's why nothing was said about it returning during midseason announcements. Can't really talk about one show replacing another until the first one actually flops. Gotcha!

We're happy for Courteney, but do you know who we are more excited for? Busy Phillips! Can we just talk about how she makes that show and how seeing her at all the awards shows with Michelle Williams has just made us miss her all the more!

NO!NO!NO!!!!

Oh, HEEEEL NO! We won't strand for it! They can NOT do this to us... we mean... Camille Grammer!

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills IS Camille.

That said, we're gonna do our best to report this while rivers of tears descend from our eyes!

The Real Housewives network (some people call it "Bravo") told our girl Camille they're looking to do some re-casting for the Beverly Hills gang. In the mean time they're holding off on signing her on to Season 3.

Our fave BH blonde (sorry Taylor) told reporters:

"I had a good year so I would want to go back for a third season, but they haven't asked me yet, so I wonder what's going on with that. I guess they decided who they want and I guess they are going to start casting, looking for new housewives. They told me they were going to start looking so it wasn't behind my back. They were like, 'Sorry we are doing a big casting call.' I was like, 'Thanks.'"

That cuts deep!

Well, at least she wasn't blind-sided like some NYC Housewives we know!

For now all we can do is wait, emotionally eat, and hope that Andy Cohen will decide keep our beloved Camille.

What an awkward performance.

Lana Del Rey was set to be one of the up and coming artists of 2012, but nowwwww, we're not so convinved.

She did her first major performance on SNL last night and well...um....hmm...how do we put this delicately?

She bombed.

LOL, sorry, but her voice was all over the place, she was off-key, and had zero stage presence. She looked completely uncomfortable on stage and even made us uncomfortable just watching her.

Yikes.

She did look pretty though!

Watch her performance of Blue Jeans above to see what we mean.

Arts and Entertainment:Music from EzineArticles.com

Your guitar should reflect your personality and the style of music you play. However, it may be hard to find a guitar that reflects who you are without searching. If you already have a guitar, you may want to change the look of the guitar in some way. Altering the guitar physically is hard and if done improperly can often lead to a ruined sound from the guitar and can even make it more difficult to play.

Instructions On How To Download Mixtapes

In today's music world there are so many artists to choose from. It is difficult as a musician to try and promote yourself while selling your music at a high price. Sometimes it is beneficial to the performer to actually release a compilation of the music they make for free. In the hip hop and rap community, producers and rappers will release what are known as mix tapes to the community for free.

Aisha Tyler has released a BRILLIANT short video clip in support of Americans For Marriage Equality. It is funny and personal and perfect. Last night David and I had plans to meet up with Tamar, Rob, Ollie and Caleb for a long overdue movie night where we planned on watching The Human Centipede 2 (The Full Sequence). Unfortch, our plans didn’t really work out the way we had hoped. Ollie and Caleb couldn’t make it and, well, it just wouldn’t be the same seeing the film without them so … we had to push back our Centipede plans for another night.

Instead, David and I met up with Rob and Tam for a delish Korean BBQ dinner at Tangier in Los Feliz and ended up having a great night irregardless. Tam and Rob introduced us to Tangier so it was only right for us to share our delicious night out with them. Altho we weren’t able to enjoy our planned movie night, our new plan to stuff our faces with mounds of all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ was a nice alternative ;)

Tonight will be a bizzy night. First, David and I are meeting up with friends for a Damien Hirst art opening and then I’m meeting up with my dear Irene downtown to see M83 in concert. Hopefully, Irene and I will be able to hang out with Ollie and Caleb since they live downtown close to the venue. Hope y’all are having a happy Thursday!

Community Lives! Sort of!

NBC Chief Bob Greenblatt addressed questions about the beloved show during a winter press tour. Greenblatt stated that Community is not canceled and would return at a TBD sometime this spring.

Greenblatt said the following:

When I announced our midseason changes last fall and took Community off the schedule, I failed to explicitly say that it would be back. I want to expel any notion that it is just disappearing off the schedule

As for what time Community comes back, that is another issue as well.

The NBC head honcho said that 8pm is now a time slot Thursdays so there may be some shuffling on Thursday's programming. He also stated that he's "very curious" to see how something like 30 Rock would do at 8pm.

Whither Goest Thou? Speculations on the Hereafter

Great awareness can come out of relationships, if both parties are unafraid to reveal their true self to each other, and if they see the relationship as a tool to understanding their inner workings, beliefs and complexes. Too often, people seek a relationship to calm their emotional storms and sexual urges.

Sky Ferreira Channels Her Inner Madonna For V Magazine

Pop star Sky Ferrerira posted a photo to her official Twitter profile from a photoshoot she did with Mario Testino for an upcoming spread in V magazine. Sky will be featured in the mag’s Music Issue and will be channeling Madonna‘s iconic style in the spread. According to a tweet that she sent to MuuMuse, [...]

Because I had a bit of a rough start yesterday morning, my first day of 2012 turned out to be a lot more relaxed than I anticipated. I ended up spending some time with an old friend yesterday afternoon … because the 1985 Madonna film Desperately Seeking Susan was on cable. To be honest, I think I’ve only seen the film once or twice since it was originally released 27 years ago (!!!) so it was nice taking a trip back in time to remember the good ol’ days.

It’s crazy how iconic Madonna looks in this film. I mean, all the clichés we know about her stem from EVERYTHING about Desperately Seeking Susan. From Madonna‘s look, to her attitude to the music of the film, the Madonna who became a legend was really introduced to the world on a large scale in this film. Desperately is, in all honesty, a terrible film … but its true importance is as a time capsule from the 80s. Man, 85 … a lifetime ago.

David and I did manage to get out of the house last night … we went out for a fun pizza dinner:

Which means I’ve already had 2 pizzas in 2012 already ;) Good times. I think we’re gonna try and hang out with Darion tonight … since we haven’t seen him since last year. It’s about time, I think. Happy Monday … Happy First Week of the New Year!!

Ryan Adams Lyrics: Why I Love Them So Much

Just as many people are going to festivals these days as they were in the 80s. Also, the number of festivals has grown rapidly, but has the festival scene taken a dent in the last decade? I wouldn't really call it a dent, more of a head on collision. The festival scene has been swamped with "festival fashion" and people going to festivals just so they can say they have been to a festival.

Rooney Mara, As Lisbeth Salander, Does Entertainment Weekly Magazine

Actress Rooney Mara can currently be seen in movie theaters here in the US (and around the world) as the anti-heroine Lisbeth Salander in the David Fincher-directed film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. This week, she can also be seen on the cover of the new issue of Entertainment Weekly magazine. The Salander character [...]

Last night David and I met up with our dear, dear friends Emma and Josh for a dinner and movie date … which was LONG overdue. I hadn’t been able to hang out with Emma or Josh since Hallowe’en, and that is the longest we’ve gone without seeing one another since we met a couple of years ago. It was really fun getting to see those two again, David and I love them so much. We dined at Hugo’s in West Hollywood and then Emma, David and I made our way to the ArcLight in Hollywood to see Angelina Jolie‘s directorial debut film In the Land of Blood & Honey … which, I’m happy to report, we all liked.

It should go without saying that Blood & Honey is a difficult film to watch. Set during the Bosnian war of the 90s, Blood & Honey tells the tale of a couple involved in a brief pre-war relationship and their interactions with one another post-war … in a Serbian rape camp. Yes, the subject matter is heavy but the film does tell a compelling story. I wouldn’t say it’s a love story, per se, even tho the central couple have a love affair. I suppose you could call Blood & Honey a war film but for the most part, the audience isn’t really informed of the causes of the war itself. If I have one complaint about the film, it’s that the viewer isn’t given any information as to the circumstances that led up to the start of the war … nor is there really a clear conclusion as to the end of the war. The only focus is on the central characters Ajla (played by Zana Marjanovic) and Danijel (played by Goran Kostic). I don’t think it’s of any surprise that their story is a tragic one and, to be honest, I had a hard time knowing what to feel for the two of them. I found it difficult to root for them as a couple or to find happiness in the moments they get to spend together because of the grossly unfair power disparity between the two of them. There are many painful scenes to witness in this film … but those very scenes are powerful and compelling. I generally liked this film and would recommend it to others … but I don’t think it’s something that I need to see again. If anything, it has inspired me to seek out more information on the events surrounding the Bosnian war in order to learn what the film left out. As far as Angelina Jolie‘s script and direction, I’d say she did a fine job with both. The direction seemed stronger for me but the script was fine. I think Jolie has the ability to become an excellent director. Judging by her first film, she deffo has the talent to become great.

I’m not sure what the plan is for tonight. David and I are thinking about seeing another film (mainly because there are so many good films to see that we’d like to see before year’s end) but we may just stay in together. It’s almost the weekend, y’all. It’s almost New Year’s EVE! Oy, where has the time gone?

Breathing for Singing and Why Your Breathing SHOULD Suck

Great Steve Earle albums aren't hard to find; just about every one of his records has at least one gem on it. I think his musical output should be considered in two pieces: pre- and post-drug use. This is because I notice a big difference in his music between the two eras. I'll let you know my top 5 from the post-drug era.

Robert De Niro Welcomes A Baby Girl

Actor Robert De Niro is a dad again at age 68. Yep he and his wife announced they have welcomed a baby girl. Via a surrogate, Robert De Niro and wife actress/singer Grace Hightower 56 years old, are now the proud parents of a baby girl, Helen Grace Hightower. Their new daughter joins big brother Eliot who is 13 years old. The little girl is apparently doing just fine. She weighed in at a healthy 7 pounds and 2 ounces. Robert and Grace have been married since 1997, however they separated in 1999 but their divorce was never finalized. In 2004 the couple renewed their vows and have been happily married since then. Little Helen is the sixth child for the Academy Award winning actor who has four other children. He has a son Raphael from his first marriage to Diahnne Abbott. Robert also adopted Diahnne’s daughter Drena from a previous relationship. Then there are his 16-year old twin boys Julian and Henry from his relationship with Toukie Smith. Considerations of Audio Production Schools

If you are called to an audition, expect only a handful of people to be present, and not a very large crowd. In addition to yourself and the casting director, the other people that matter, may be the director, a camera operator, if the audition is being taped, and perhaps a representative of the advertising agency, if the audition is for a commercial.

How Vinyl Albums Create Wonderful Memories

He is referred to by his birth name, Elvis, but some refer to him as the King. He is thought of as an American Rock-and-Roll legend, and his presence remains strong well after his death. For fans of his classic vinyl, his records have been known to have high resale values; some rare records of his can generate hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. His music lives on as American hits, but it's the sales generated from his estate that have the CKX Enterprise's pockets filled with cash. CKX Enterprise has created a niche business promoting the image and name of dead celebrities, and Elvis remains one of the most lucrative names in the business.

Madonna sat down to chat with Anderson Cooper this week for a special 1-hour episode of his daytime talk show Anderson but we won’t get to see the ep until February of next year. Maddy‘s interview is meant to hype the February release of her directorial debut film W.E. so I guess Anderson thought it best to sit on the interview for the next couple of months. BUT … today at least we get to check out a short preview clip from Madonna‘s interview … check it out below.

Madonna sat down for a one-hour interview with Anderson today, discussing her new film “W.E.,” her upcoming performance at the Super Bowl, and in this show preview, the superstar shares her exclusive reaction to the film’s two Golden Globe nominations for Original Song and Original Score. “I am so proud of Abel Korzeniowski, who did the score of my film. It was a great way to wake up this morning,” Madonna tells Anderson. The “Anderson” episode will air in February 2012.

Oh man … she looks great, she sounds great … I cannot wait to see this interview in full. I’m just so excited that we are on the verge of a new era of Madonna music … 2012 is going to be a great year for Madge fans. This preview clip is fun … it’s just a shame that we have to wait SO LONG to see the full interview.

Different Types of Guitar Strings

There are many inventions sprung around the early period of the 20th century about an amplified acoustic guitar-including the creation of guitar innovator Les Paul. In 1931, George Beauchamp invented the first electrically amplified guitar. In the summer of 1932, production began for the first commercially produced electric guitar by The Ro-Pat-In Corporation under the management of George Beauchamp, Paul Barth and Adolph Rickenbacker.

The Fascinating History of Electric Guitar

Do you love music? Have you ever thought about making music of your own for yourself, or the enjoyment of other people? What kind of keyboard should a starting or a novice piano player choose? This is a common question among people who have become interested in music, and are looking for an instrument.

10 Easy Steps to Increase Traffic to Your Website

I debated whether I should take the plunge and try the Kindle out, or whether it would detract from the printed page and my enjoyment of reading. In the end I decided I would buy one, as I felt the advantages could outweigh the potential disadvantages. Can A Kindle Replace The Printed Page?

Not that long ago, the only way you could rent movies was to go to the local video store, spend about an hour walking around looking at the shelves to see if you could find some movies you may like and then hope they were available when you got to the counter. Today, the whole world has changed which means you don't even have to leave the house to rent HD movies for you and your family to enjoy.

Things You Need To Learn While Reading Guitar Tabs

With the coming of new mediums to distribute, music has arrived at much better sound quality. Unfortunately, this was not necessarily true, since they bundled other positive aspects in with the new media. Realistically, a large number of mediums ended up sacrificing audio quality for portability and medium proper protection. A brief assessment of media will help anyone realize why this has been such a strange journey in media variations.

Just Dancing Partners No More! Nicole Scherzinger And Derek Hough Allegedly Hook Up

The former Dancing with the Stars partners want to take it off the dance floor.
Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough were spotted sucking face at the opening of Greystone Manor Supperclub in L.A.
In front of Hough's ex, Lauren Conrad!
Lauren and Derek broke up in early November and Derek was quick to rebound.
Reports say that since Nicole [...]

You know, people shouldn't make promises they can't keep!

Last night, it was rumored that Van Halen would be making a triumphant return to the stage for the Grammy Nominations concert in LA. The performance would mark the first time the reunited band would be performing on TV and many fans were super excited to see Eddie Van Halen with original lead singer David Lee Roth tear it up once again!

However, the concert went up ... and no Van Halen. So what gives?

Seems some wires got crossed and as the Recording Academy President Neil Portnow reveals, the guys just weren't ready. In his statement, he explains:

"In the world of creativity, everything is fluid. In the process of discussions that we had been having with an expectation that perhaps we would be at a point tonight where the artist involved and we, moving forward, would be ready to announce (a reunion), they weren't quite at that point. So it's live television, we go on to the next act. It's rock and roll and so on. That being said, we were genuine about the intention and we are genuine about the discussion."

Epic fail!

Hopefully, they will be ready come Feburary for the actual Grammy Awards. They have two months to prepare.

Trying and get your shiz together, people! We want some real Halen!!!

Confirmed: Jennifer Lopez Is Vacationing In Hawaii With Toy Boy Casper Smart

Well well now … yesterday we learned that Jennifer Lopez was RUMORED to be on holiday in Hawaii with her much younger toy boy Casper Smart but at the time there was no photographic evidence that the pair were holidaying together. Today we learn unequivocally that J. Lo and Casper — Jasper, if you will [...]

So … let me tell you about my favorite holiday ever — Black Friday. See, while everyone else and their mother is out shopping at all hours of the day and night fighting with one another for bargain deals, I tend to stay indoors warm and cozy doing absolutely nothing. You see, out here in the wilds of Connecticut, there ain’t much to do anyway … so for the most part, relaxation is the only thing on the menu. And boy, did I indulge yesterday.

I can’t say that I was totally unproductive. I spent a bit of time yesterday afternoon going thru my massive iTunes music library and upgrading all of my low quality 128kbps mp3 files to high quality files from the iTunes store. iTunes Match, which only costs $24.99 a year, makes it easy to replace most of your low quality files with higher quality, better sounding files. Of course not everything in my library is upgradable and the matching process is not perfect (I’d say about 8% of my files were not able to be matched for upgrade even tho they should deffo be eligible) but for what iTunes Match offers already, it’s well worth the cost. I was a bit mortified to find that some of my favorite albums were encoded at a measly 128kbps. Now, most of them are at the higher quality format they deserve.

Another bit of good news to pass along. It turns out that I am taking David’s sister Eden to see The Cure in NYC tomorrow night:

She was so jealous to hear of the Cure show in LA last Monday that we decided to look for tickets. Thankfully, we found a great pair for a very reasonable price so … I’m gonna get to see The Cure again! I’ll have seen the first LA show and the last NYC show — the first and last shows of the only US dates they are doing this tour. I am very excited.

I’m thinking tonight will be another quiet night. David is going to his high school reunion and I will, most likely be going to bed early :) Happy Saturday, y’all!!

Why This Kolaveri Di Song

Collecting vinyl music is more popular today than you might think. With digital music, you have a way to locate and download music faster than ever. Vinyl albums are still popular for a number of different reasons. Things like nostalgia, sound quality, and the tangibility of a product are just a few reasons. No matter how fast music technology seems to get, vinyl albums seem to have a staying power that lasts. With Amazon and other huge retailers selling vinyl LP's, there is no sign that this is a fad that will go away.

We have some HOT juice for you, perezcious readers!

In the picture above, we can see Lea and Cory within kissing distance, looking very lovey dovey toward one another. Now clearly this is NOT being filmed.

After Damian McGinty and Jenna Ushkowitz tweeted the photo, we guess fans must have written back with the observation because both Glee stars quickly deleted it!! Uh-Oh... that means there must be some truth to it! Why hide it otherwise??

A very special reader tells us there were pictures of Lea getting her hair done earlier in the day with that style so there is no question it's her.

Uh-oh! Gayle King is NOT playing around!

A few months back, she was sued by a woman known as Orly the Matchmaker, over claims that Gayle promised her an appearance on Oprah in return for her service, which normally costs $500,000, and it never panned out!

However, now the Big O's BFF has filed new documents in California federal court, requesting that the lawsuit be thrown out, because the state law asserts that oral contracts, which Orly cites as their main form of agreement, involving 'dating services' are "void and unenforceable!"

Ouch!

We guess we'll find out if a judge agrees during the hearing in January!

Until then - what do U think?? Team Gayle or Team Matchmaker??

Arts and Entertainment:Music from EzineArticles.com

Many of us who have played electric guitar for years are all too familiar with the tuning issues that are inherently part of playing an instrument with a standard, non-locking tremolo system. Over the years we have all developed little setup tricks and practices that are designed to help relieve these issues. In this article I will discuss some of the most widely used of these tricks in the spirit of helpful information sharing and the hope that you will find some of them useful when setting up your standard trem guitars.

Superstar DJ Samantha Ronson was spotted out and about this week … on a playdate with a friend and the friend’s little daughter. Now, it’s not uncommon to see celebs playing with kids at the park but I don’t think that we’re used to seeing Sam lookin’ all cute in playdate mode. I am used to seeing Samantha rockin’ out behind the DJ decks, smirking for the camera … but with babe in arms? It’s a new look for her … and I really like it :D

Aww … Sam looks like a natural. Clearly her little friend is having a blast in these photos. This is a side of Samantha Ronson I’d love to see more of. So cute, right?

Mariah Carey teamed up with European wireless provider Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile here in the US) to surprise the folks in Poland, Crotia and Macedonia with a short impromptu holiday music concert that was streamed LIVE across the Eastern European countries. In all, Mimi performed 4 songs including her smash holiday hit All I Want for Christmas is You. Click below to watch the entire 20 minute mini-concert in full and get a taste of what the lucky folks in Europe got to experience this week.

This is pretty neat. And considering Mariah will be featured in holiday ads for Deutsche Telekom this Xmas, it makes sense that they would want to kick off the campaign in this big splashy way. I kinda like how Mariah is projected like a hologram … tho, I’d be more impressed if her likeness was being projected from an R2-D2 unit ;) This is a fun little mini-concert. Escape (A Short Play in One Act, and Two Scenes) (Act One, Scene Two)

The woman, German waitress in a Bavarian outfit, dress and all, left the bar area with a smile. Her shoulders were very thin, her face and hands lightly tanned, and she was taller than most of the men in the bar, apparently so, who were Turkish. A few of the dark-eyed Turkish men strolled about from the bar to the tables in the next room where I had walked into.

Sense or Nonsense (A Set of Poems)

The story "Escape" is much like the Author's other works, biographical in many respects; it presents a version of his own life. In this case, an imaginative speculation about what might have taken place prior to his leaving Minnesota to go to San Francisco and what might have happened otherwise, had he not. That is, had he not chosen to go to San Francisco, in 1968, as indicated in his previous book "Romancing San Francisco"? Moreover, had he not gone to Vietnam, as indicated in his book, "Where the Birds Don't Sing."

Escape (A Short Play in One Act, and Two Scenes) (Act One, Scene One)

Behind the jukebox, where the two bathrooms are, alongside the bathrooms is a corridor, that leads to the back door of the bar, you can leave by that way, but you can't come in that way, it leads to the street. The walls are plain, no paintings or anything. It is near closing of the same evening, now night. The bar is light lightly, softer music is being played, people are drunker up what they have left, gulping it down, resting their elbows on the bar, the bar closes at 1:00 p.m., the last call for drinks has been called already, and it is twenty-minutes to one. Chick inhales his 57th cigarette for the day, slowly and then puts it out in a nearby ashtray. Then whipping his hands onto his trousers, he leans back, stretches his legs, and waits.

AHH!! YESS!!! DREAMS DO COME TRUE!! LOL!!

We've been SOO bummed about Adele's lack of performance lately due to that bitch of a throat, but good things come to those who wait!!

Adele, who is nominated in six categories, will be performing at the Grammys this year...more than likely!!!

A source close to her sings music in our ears (lol):

Adele will be at the Grammys in Los Angeles on February 12 at the Staples Center. She's thrilled to be nominated, but it's been a hard time for her because of the surgery. She has begun talking more, with her doctor's permission.

Adele's best friend in recent weeks has been warm compresses around her neck to help the healing process of her vocal chords. Producers of the Grammys would love to have Adele perform, and open the show, but she isn't able to give them an answer yet. She won't be able to give them an answer until the beginning of February, and they completely understand.

Okay, so there's a chance she can't, but we have faith!! Everyone needs to keep their positive thoughts rollin' because we need to see her sing again!!

Our world just hasn't been the same without those live golden vocal chords!!

Are Party Photo Booths Another FAD?

Can song lyrics be considered poetry? Without a doubt lyrics contain poetic elements, but whether they would have the same effect and power as pure poetry written down on paper without musical accompaniment and vocal performance, is another matter. The answer is probably not, however, as we know poetry began as an oral tradition, and in the medieval era there would have been no distinction between the lyrics of a ballad and the composition of a poem.

Drum Samples Vs Custom Online Drum Tracks, Part Two

The world of technology changes so quickly that people sometimes feel like they can't keep up - for certain people, they still have plenty of CD's they want to play, and they're just not ready, willing, or able to upgrade to an all mp3 digital library. Whatever the reason, sometimes it seems hard to find technology that will accommodate different stages of household technological advancement.
